Fun fact: The Myrrh myth is told by Ovid in the Metamorphoses. It concerns Myrrh’s carnal love for her father, the king of Pappho. A mad and uncontrollable passion, from which she is unable to free herself, to the point that in despair she attempts to take her own life. The gods accept her plea and turn her into a tree. Not holding back her tears, drops of fragrant resin sprout from her bark, from which she takes her name.
