The nymph already carried within her the spirit of the Lime Tree, as indicated by its Greek name: philos “friend” and yron “swarm” with the meaning of “tree loved by bees.” Everything is of use in this beautiful tree; one drinks the infusion of its flowers, eats the honey produced from its nectar, and works its bark to make cloth, ropes and hats.
